Javelina for Life
       Scholarship Dinner

    KINGSVILLE (November 9, 2011) — Texas A&M University-Kingsville celebrated its student scholarship recipients and honored the donors that make it possible at the 4th annual Javelina for Life Scholarship Dinner held November 3.

    Nearly 350 people were on hand for the event, which was held on the A&M-Kingsville campus. Many students had the opportunity to meet and personally thank those who funded their scholarship, engage in scholarly conversation, and have their photo taken together.        Yvonne Saldivar 

    Yvonne Saldivar, a junior accounting and finance major from Raymondville, is a student who truly understands and appreciates the impact of giving back.  “These scholarships will help me in my career goals by giving me the foundation that I need. No one really thinks about scholarships as a foundation, but I have found that because of scholarships I have been able to succeed academically and surpass my personal goals “.  As the recipient of the Presidential Blue Series Scholarship, Hilda Garcia Scholarship, State Farm Companies Scholarship and Deloitte Tax Scholarship, Yvonne is able to pursue her promising future in becoming a Certified Public Accountant.  Read More

    Dr. Barbara Oates, Chair and Professor of Marketing and Management, Dr. Alicia Cavazos-Garza, Assistant Professor of Management and Dr. Monica Santaella, Assistant Professor of Management presented “The Use of Google Plus for Online Team-Based Collaboration” at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board conference in Austin, Texas on November 2 & 3.

    Dr. John Cicala, Assistant Professor of Marketing was a guest of Liz Laubach on South Texas’ public radio station, KEDT-FM 90.3, on Tuesday, November 8 to discuss a research project he and Dr. Valerie Bartelt, Assistant Professor of Information Systems are working on concerning the listening and buying media preferences (compact discs v. digital files) of classical music consumers.
