Perry Appoints Texas A&M-Kingsville Accounting
Junior as Student Regent
KINGSVILLE (April 24, 2012) — John “Quinten” Womack, a Texas A&M University-Kingsville accounting junior and Honors College student from Mission, has been appointed student regent for The Texas A&M University System by Gov. Rick Perry. Womack is the seventh student to serve on Board of Regents since the governor created the position in 2006. He replaces outgoing student regent Fernando Treviño Jr. of Del Rio, whose term expires May 31. Read more.
Spring 2012 Distinguished Undergraduate
Student Award
Edward Vargas has been selected the recipient of the Spring 2012 Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award from the College of Business Administration. This award is sponsored by the Student Government Association and is given to a nominated graduating senior that has at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA and is involved in university extracurricular activities.
Spring 2012 Commencement
More than 740 prospective graduates crossed the stage to receive their degrees during three commencement ceremonies held at the Steinke Physical Education Center at Texas A&M University-Kingsville Friday, May 11. Read more.
Faculty Teaching Awards Go to Gaugler
and Rivera
Every year, the graduating seniors of the College of Business Administration select a professor and a lecturer for The Students’ Choice Distinguished Teaching Excellence Awards. This year’s award recipients are Dr. Gonzalo Rivera, Associate Professor in Department of Management and Marketing and James Gaugler, Lecturer in the Department of Management and Marketing. Award selection criteria includes but is not limited to, high academic standards, active involvement in CBA activities and student organizations and a sincere desire to help all students achieve success in their professional fields. Many congratulations to Dr. Rivera and Mr. Gaugler!
